“Simple” by Łukasz Biazik
Country: Lodz, Poland
Parts used: Leaves
Amount: 60 grams
Thinner: None, pure leaf juice
Application: Hammering with a rubber mallet
Layers: 1
Substrate: Watercolour paper
Created with: Fern leaf
Exposure: 3 days, August, summer 2023
Contrast: ✿✿ (Medium)
Challenges or observations: The exposed dye fades quickly. After 2 days in the sun, there were no more changes. I exposed one extra day to make sure, but there was no difference. With this dye you can get high contrast in the picture.
Additional information: This time, I wanted to make the whole process as simple as possible. That’s why I chose hammering to obtain the dye. Hammering causes the dye to cover the paper unevenly; this makes it possible to get an interesting texture on the paper. This method can be used for both leaves and flowers. It is important that the plants used are fresh.
