“Summer Sunshine” by Janice Kamide
Country: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada
Parts used: Petals
Amount: 36 petals
Extracted by: Mortar and pestle
Thinner: 1 teaspoon tap water (ph 8.3), one-half teaspoon white vinegar
Application: Brushing
Layers: 2
Substrate: Cold press acid-free watercolour paper
Created with: Photogram using leaves and stem and flowers of the same flower used for the emulsion
Exposure: 6 hours per day for 6 days, UV ranging from 3-8, August, summer 2023
Contrast: ✿✿ (Medium)
Challenges or observations: Emulsion was very vibrant and golden-orange upon application. The first two days of exposure were low UV days so I left it out for a total of six days until I noticed significant fading.
Additional information: This was my first go at anthotypes!
