Rita Mungiardi, an Italian artist, active in many cultural fields such as theatre and literature, also explores cyanotypes.
From: Treviso, Italy
Shows: Cyanotypes
Rita Mungiardi, after taking her degree, worked at a Graphic Art School for many years. She loves travelling and meeting people all over the world and takes the opportunity whenever possible. Her curiosity led her to explore most kinds of art. First of all, theatre, followed by painting, sculpture, cinema and literature.
Rita Mungiardi was active in theatre until the age of 29. She then took her diploma in visual art winning national and international awards. Her husband Gabriele Coassin – who has been working for years in the field of photography and is now a researcher of old and alternative techniques – led her to become interested in photography. After following her husband’s interest in cyanotypes and anthotypes Rita started experimenting herself with cyanotypes.
Rita lives in Treviso with her family.
“I like working in alternative processing. You can start with an idea of your work but the final result is different and surprising. Every time I expose the sheet or the canvas, with the objects or something else, in the sun I’m a bit nervous about what I can see because it’s very different from my previous idea.”
