“Stump” by Tommi Hakkarainen
Country: Luvia, Finland
Parts used: Leaves
Amount: Handful for each print
Extracted by: Stick blender
Thinner: None (a few drops of rainwater on the leaves)
Application: Brushing
Layers: 4
Substrate: Watercolour paper
Created with: Inkjet positive on OHP paper
Exposure: 3 days, August, summer 2023
Contrast: ✿ (Low)
Challenges or observations: The extracted colour was a nice pale green and a few leaves gave a lot of liquid. The exposure time was far too short: it could have used several more days, or maybe a week or two more. The positive used was too intricate for use with anthotypes.
Additional information: The species (large-leaved lupine) is considered an invasive species in Finland; all sightings should be reported and the plant should be disposed of. So, it is a perfect plant for this type of use.
