From the beginning of his career as a photographer, Kevin Logghe has believed in alternative (he prefers the term “handcrafted “) processes as an indispensable tool in conveying the emotional experience of his subjects. He employs a variety of processes (including Bromoil, Platinum/Palladium, Cyanotype, Gum and Lith… so far). Having a broad palette of processes at his disposal, allows him to match subject and process to most closely match his pre-visualizations.

Beyond his work as a photographer, he has also produced regional photo-events, curated exhibitions and organized competitions in addition to teaching various aspects of the art and craft on the college-level. His photography and writing on photography have been published nationally and he is a frequent guest lecturer at universities, high-schools and photo clubs.

Kevin Logghe is also the founding editor of fotosavant – The Journal of Handcrafted Photography at www.fotosavant.com. He lives and works in the Bull City of Durham, North Carolina.

“It is the challenge of the photographer to overcome the inherent lies of the camera to communicate truth.”
