Keith Nourse

Keith Nourse from London works in several processes like Salt prints, all using paper negatives.
From: London, England lives in France.
Shows: Cyanotypes, Gum bichromates, Salt prints, Vandykes.

Born in London in 1958, Keith only uses equipment that is older than he is; from his mainstay Rolleiflex TLR to a 1905 mahogany, brass and leather Sanderson Field camera. He has been taking pictures since his father bought him a plastic Ilford Sprite in the 1960’s. He is an admirer of, and is inspired by, the works of Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jacques-Henri Lartigue.

He began working with alternative processes after seeing the Salt Prints by W .H. Fox Talbot on a visit to Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. One process led to others, and he now works in Salt prints, Cyanotypes, Van Dyke and Gum Bichromate. He works extensively with paper negatives (5 hour exposures for Cyanotypes!), which allow him to create large prints up to 20 x 24 inches.

Keith now lives and works, with his wife, in the South of France.

“I enjoy the unpredictable results produced by combining vintage cameras and alternative processes, which give much of my work the feel of bygone days.”
