Kathleen Vukasovich’s childhood in Yuma, Arizona consisted of chasing jackrabbits on horseback in the sand dunes with 4-H friends, preparing my lamb, “Lambchops” for the county fair, wearing a cowgirl costume while riding in the annual Yuma Rodeo Parade and turning into a prune in her family’s swimming pool. Since then, Kathy has travelled extensively including a teaching stint at the U.S. Embassy in Quito, Ecuador and a year of wondrous beauty, living and working in Yellowstone National Park.

Kathleen Vukasovich now resides in the Phoenix, Arizona area and has enjoyed pushing the boundaries of all things cyanotype for many years. Invented in 1842, cyanotype is a highly unpredictable, serendipitous medium that can bring many unexpected gifts to the artist. Kathy utilizes her own photographic images, acrylic paints, inks and gold leaf as well as traditional organic elements in her pieces with the hope that they will offer the viewer a portal into an imaginary, sometimes whimsical and always magical universe.
