Jeane Vogel loves working with alternative methods of photography. She explores and alternative vision of the world.
From: St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Shows: Polaroid SX-70s, Emulsion transfers on rice paper.
Jeane uses hand-altered SX-70 Polaroid images to see past reality to bring an alternative vision of the world into focus. The result is a personal, highly interpretative and deeply emotive image that cannot be attained any other way.
With this alternative photographic technique, a photo is taken with a vintage Polaroid camera using a particular type of film. As the image develops, the artist shapes the emulsion using a variety of tools, thus changing the mood and shape of the image and the value of the colors.
The original is unstable and fades within 2-5 years, rendering unsuitable for sale. The original is re-photographed and printed by the artist as a pigment print in limited editions of no more than 50 prints in each of 4 sizes (200 prints total edition) on fine art watercolor paper or canvas.
Jeane is an award-winning photographer who has spent more than 30 years crafting art with light and lenses. She uses traditional and experimental tools and techniques to expose the world of nature, faith and humankind in a singular light.
Jeane has shown her art in galleries, art fairs and exhibits in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, New York, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Her work is included in private, public and corporate collections throughout the United States.
“Photography does not capture a moment in time. Photography captures an essence of time. A feeling. A mood. An impression.”
