Dennis da Silva

Dennis da Silva started as a lab technician in South Africa. He has evolved his work to include alternative processes.
From: Johannesburg, South Africa.
Shows: Cyanotypes, Vandykes and Saltprints.

For over four decades Dennis da Silva has been developing both an eye for beautiful images and the images themselves. After making the transition from photographer to lab technician Dennis submersed himself in the alchemy of image reproduction. His technical aptitude quickly established him as one of the foremost authorities in his field in South Africa, and today he has a successful business specializing in digital scanning and fine art printing, black & white hand processing, conventional and lith hand printing, as well as many forms of chemical toning.

From a personal point of view, the historic importance of the salt print makes it one of the most rewarding alternative processes I have tried. The intrinsic beauty and creative potential when applied to an image is truly endless.
