In this workshop, participants will learn how to make photographs in nature with simple wooden pinhole cameras. We will discuss a little bit of history and how the pinhole camera works with black and white darkroom paper. Participants will work outdoors and be able to wander our woods, incorporating the natural setting into their images if desired. A one-day in-person workshop at the Center for Book Arts, 11 am–5 pm. Beginning with cyanotype’s nineteenth-century history and Anna Atkins’s botanical books, participants will make a sequence of cyanotype prints and transform them into a concertina artist’s book. The workshop also introduces climate-adapted cyanotype and connects directly with my ongoing Ecological Wetroom research.
