Brian Nieman, a photographer and educator, explores alternative processes and conversations. As a resident artist, he conducts in-depth workshops and classes, supported by sponsorships and grants from various California Arts Council, Ahmanson Foundation, Flourish Foundation, LA Department of Cultural Affairs, The Women’s Caucus for the Arts, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
His current focus is on uncovering messages within layers of existence. Having worked in corporate and freelance photography for years, Brian realized his true passion lies in education and unrestricted project work. He creates B&W Polaroid Mono-prints through extreme underexposure and overdevelopment, destroying the Type 55 negative in the process. His cyanotypes encompass both photograms and prints made from digital negatives.
