Challenges or observations: The leaves for the photogram shrivelled quickly in the heat and I noticed that the best, greener areas, are under doubled areas of leaves. I also think that the fresh leaves imparted, or helped, the colour to remain in these areas.
Additional information: The basil in my garden was getting overgrown, what better way to use a lot while encouraging fresh, new leaves? I used vodka rather than rubbing alcohol because I was using the mortar I use for cooking so all ingredients of this anthotype needed to be edible! The resulting mix reminded me of a gin and basil cocktail I once had and nicknamed “pond water” so I may use gin next time just for the fun of it!
I also tried Safflower (dried ‘bastard’ saffron) with a transparency but there is little contrast. I will try it again with more safflower and a photogram to see if the issue is the solution or the transparency.
