Lumen printing

A lumen print is a cameraless photographic image made by placing objects directly onto black-and-white photographic paper (the kind used in traditional analogue darkroom work) and exposing it to sunlight. Instead of using a darkroom enlarger or camera, UV light reacts with the silver in the paper to create colours and tones. Flowers, leaves, and other botanical materials are commonly used, producing unique images that often feature blues, purples, browns, and golds.

Using a UV source, such as the sun, make delicate contact photographs and photograms using old or fogged, or even fresh silver gelatin paper. No development required! Just fix, tone, and enjoy!

Lumen printing can involve a lot of testing, and photographic paper is not cheap.
Keeping notes can help reduce trial and error and make better use of the paper. Record which paper was used and the conditions it was exposed. I tend to forget those details down the line.
