Created with: I hand-drew the telescope from an image of Sir John Herschel’s family crest found on Wikipedia, scanned it, refined the outline in Photoshop, and printed it on Octago inkjet transparency film to use as a negative.
Exposure: 10 days sitting in a south-facing window, October 2025
UV strength: 4-6
Temperature: 18-22° Celsius or 65-72° Fahrenheit
Humidity: 20-30%
Contrast: ✘ (Almost none)
Challenges or observations: The tiny petals required using half the large plant. I carefully avoided the yellow disc florets and greenery.
Additional information: This type of chrysanthemum is called Cheryl Pink Garden Mum or sometimes just Cheryl Pink. Though the flowers were bright pink, the mashed pigment turned pale brown. A permanent coffee filter effectively removed fine particles. The coating was very light, so I applied five layers, which only darkened the colour slightly.
