Beverley Evans has been interested in photography since she was a child but only became serious about it 6 years ago when she got her first SLR camera, she now works in cyanotypes and vandykes.
From: Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK
Shows: Cyanotypes, Polaroid transfers and Vandyke browns.

Beverley signed up for evening classes, learnt to develop her own black and white films and prints and set up a darkroom in her garage. She initially resisted a move to digital, but eventually gave in and soon discovered that digital photography gave freedom for experimentation. She now combines a mixture of old and new, digital photography with the alternative processes – using computer generated negatives to produce cyanotypes and van dyke brown prints. Beverley also likes working with Polaroid film – image transfers and emulsion lifts.

“I love working with the alternative processes – they give such lovely pictures that are far removed from the sterility of digital prints.”
