Everything Albumen with Zoe Zimmerman August 18-23, 2013

The albumen print, once the most popular form of photographic printmaking, is a low-tech, hands-on medium, which provides the photographer with the best that the materials and chemical processes themselves can attain. The albumen print contains a clarifying of detail and tonal perfection unsurpassed by more modern processes. The satisfaction derived from creating these beautiful prints is heightened by the fact that they can be made without expensive equipment or complicated chemistry. In this workshop we will cover the traditional process and the lesser-known matte process as well as various toning methods. We will explore everything from creating the ideal negative for albumen printing to presenting the finished print.
