Leanne McPhee is an Australian fine art photographer working with alternative photographic processes to investigate identity in living and still life forms. Preferring the qualities of film particularly for contact printing, Leanne uses large format, analogue and toy cameras.
Leanne specialises in a number of alternative photographic techniques including Dr Mike Ware’s New Chrysotype. Fascinated by the colour variations of this process, she continues to research acids and salts to test further possibilities. Initial research was presented to the Australia Alternative Photographic Symposium at Gold Street Studios and exhibited with salt prints in her successful solo show, ‘Drape’.
Along with completing a Diploma of Photo Imaging at the Centre for Creative Photography in Adelaide, South Australia, Leanne continues self-directed learning through master classes and workshops. She regularly exhibits and teaches workshops.
“These processes have become an integral part of my photography – a way to explore their history, enhance my photographic concept and experiment.”
