Historical photographic methods in use today – the art, processes and techniques of alternative photography. Photography as it should be: hands on, fun and inspiring.
Jennie Newman trained in art in sculpture, textiles and print graduating in 2001. In 2009 she decided to return to university to get higher qualifications and it was there that she discovered the dark room. Originally she was given a brief description of cliche verre and left to her own devices. From there, with the help of AlternativePhotography.com and picking the brains of a couple of staff members at university, she has gradually been teaching herself a range of alternative techniques.
"I love the quietness and the unpredictability of alternative techniques, especially lumen photos and various photogram techniques. I have always loved drawing and using alternative photography, I have found a way to draw with light."
