Chris Byrnes began printmaking after raising her son and began exhibiting work with local groups in 1996. An opportunity to work at the local university meant that Chris could undertake a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) and this occurred over nine long years of part time study, ending in June 2011. With a love of paper and black and white work, further investigation into photography was perhaps inevitable. Chris’s passion is alternative and historical photography, although drawing, printmaking and painting still form part of Chris’s visual language. Chris’s aim in her Honours work was to experience or release the fundamental, essential, true, original, and primal elements, as they revealed themselves, across all stages of the performance ritual of making or discovering ‚’real’ photography.
Chris lives and works in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
