Historical photographic methods in use today – the art, processes and techniques of alternative photography. Photography as it should be: hands on, fun and inspiring.
Jeremy Cosmo Davies is studying at Northumbria University for an MA in Fine Art after spending many years working in the international aid game and establishing a small workshop in north Northumberland to relive his childhood passion for wood and being creative.
"I am interested in developing my art practice around the utilization of 'off-cuts' from projects and commissions which I have been intimately involved with.
Over the past year I have become particularly interested in how an object evolves into a new narrative by giving new meaning to unnamed forms, either produced by chance or through a formal presentation.
I have developed an interest in alternative photography practice – in particular the use of cyanotype. I find this practice doesn’t limit me in terms of scale, allowing me to produce large 3600mm x 1600mm work as well as smaller photograms. I anticipate doing larger work on tent canvas in the near future.
I have exhibited my sculpture work in Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland, at the Gymnasium Gallery on a number of occasions whilst participating in two invited group shows during 2009 and 2011. I have had a solo show at Gallery North Project Space, Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2012.
I am happy to co-operate with other artists and members of the public in their quest for meaningful expression through the language of art..."
