When making tri-colored gum prints is there a particular order that the colors should be applied in? i always seem to start with yellow then go to magenta, cyan, and lastly black. i would think that it wouldnt really matter, but i was not sure.

I could have sworn I replied to this post. :?

I've done every layer order known to man...yellow first makes the best skin tones....magenta and cyan tend to stain even with good size. a very light layer of black can be a good start for a bi color...then follow it with the main color and another layer of black.

I tend to go with around 20 thin layers of color for the intensity of color I want. starting with a cyanotype base, gelatine size, then the layers of gum.

I have tried every combo as well... however, I find that putting down the shadows, what ever they may be, last keeps them clean and dark. If I put a yellow layer over a black, then the shadows get muddy.
