Martin Etter, born 1969 in the middle of the Swiss Alps, is working as a journalist and lives in Winterthur, close to Zurich. With his photographs the Swiss photographer is working to transform perspectives and insights into pictures. In his work he is consciously avoiding to reflect the environment as it shows itself on first sight. Therefore, more and more he is using pinhole cameras. For Martin, it is not a split second which counts but the period of time in which life takes place. Most of the pinhole camera photographs Martin is transforming into cyanotypes. Martin prints the pictures on water color paper, which works very well with the process as well as the expression of the pinhole camera. Very often human beings are the focus of his work - out of a dialog becomes photographs of women and men which allow a insight into their character. Just on their own or together with their musical instrument.

"With the pinhole camera photography I want to set a counterpoint to the hectic pace of our society."

Martin Etter
