Julie received her B.A. in art history at Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 2001. There she researched and was self-taught in cyanotpyes, albumen and salted paper processes. Today Julie lives in New York City and works at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is currently taking a class in alternative processes at The School of Visual Arts. Julie experiments with many alternative processes to both gain knowledge of 19th century photography as well as strengthen her creativity.

Julie says about her work:

In this early stage of my work, I hope to explore many processes and subjects with the idea of finding, and eventually narrowing to a focus.
