As a child Ellie watched her father (lighthouse keeper in remote NZ) perform the "magic" of processing and printing his negatives in the pantry, arousing deep passion for photography. Some years later Ellie achieved an Applied Science degree in Photography RMIT Australia and continues to research and explore her to strongest passions, photomacrography and the salt printing process, including albumen.
Ellie now resides in Trentham East, Victoria, Australia where her studio provides a resource centre for photographic image makers, attracting local & international participants to experience and learn the art, craft & science of traditional, alternative & historic photographic processes from professional instructors.
The world of photomacrography I find compelling - to try and represent the details of insect wings in salt prints as an art form and not as a scientific specimen is a fulfilling challenge.
