Beverley signed up for evening classes, learnt to develop her own black and white films and prints and set up a darkroom in her garage. She initially resisted a move to digital, but eventually gave in and soon discovered that digital photography gave freedom for experimentation. She now combines a mixture of old and new, digital photography with the alternative processes - using computer generated negatives to produce cyanotypes and van dyke brown prints. Beverley also likes working with Polaroid film image transfers and emulsion lifts. "I love working with the alternative processes they give such lovely pictures that are far removed from the sterility of digital prints."
